History

Marina Sales, Inc. or MARINA in short was established in 1954 —- mainly to sell or distribute Del Monte products for Del Monte Phils,, Inc. or DMPI. At that time, DMPI was known as Philippine Packaging Corporation. Marina first started in a 250 sq. m. office warehouse in downtown Manila with just
a few people.

During that period, Marina had been only one of the 19th distributors operating in the Manila areas. In 1964, after having been the most dedicated distributor, Marina was appointed by DMPI as the exclusive distributor for the Luzon area with the exemption of Bicol; also, an exclusive territory in Greater Manila —– the territory covered for about 39% of National Sales.

By the late 80’s, Marina was again appointed to service all key accounts in Metro Manila —– this means all supermarkets and groceries. The wholesalers were left to another distributor —– that company was Valiant.

While the company focused on Del Monte, Marina also sold other products like Scott Tissue, Dial Soap, Real Fresh Milk. In 1969, Sunquick Orange was introduced in the Philippine Market and 3 years later, Marina put up an automated bottling plant for Sunquick products.

In 1997, under a new ownership, DMPI initiated a new distribution structure. Marina operation was split into two —– one as Forwarder to key accounts meaning supermarkets and top groceries and the other as full-pledged DISTRIBUTOR to developmental accounts in the Luzon area.

In spite of these changes, the company chose to keep the sales force intact basically for the company’s other lines which now include F&N Foods products, TASCO products, Fil-Thai products, JR Center products and of course the Sunquick line.Last January 1, 2001, Mead Johnson Philippines, Inc.

appointed MSI as its sub-distributor to service the South GMA Area. As mead Johnson’s second biggest distributor on a national scale, MSI was tasked to achieve 100% account distribution performance based on standards to ensure achievement of business objectives for both MJ and MSI. In February of 2001, MSI assumed coverage of the other municipalities in the Greater Manila Area. As Mead Johnson’s business partner, our efforts are focused on growth, productivity and culture.

Today, Marina has about 285 employees. Our main office is located at #6 Arturo Drive, TBICAI Compound Bagumbayan, Taguig City. Metro Manila, Philippines.
